Masquerade

Robbed of my own self
I weave through
The labyrinth
Masquerading
Behind
The curtains
That
Mind pulls over heart.
The search within
Becoming a struggle,
The search without
Meaningless.
I am but
Fragments.
Like
Broken sentences.
Beneath
The skin
And the bones
I am nothing
But hollow.
Empty spaces fill me up.
I am but a deception.
A house of cards,
Ready to crumble
At slightest breeze.
Some light remains perhaps,
Through the cracks
Now and then,
But mostly
I am obscure,
Dwelling in twilights,
Just another
Mask
In milieu.
A masquerade,
That being my existence,
I leave no imprints.

  2. Such sadness. I do wonder how the narrator's self was robbed, and whether the narrator will eventually claim herself again.

    1. Let us hope that this is a passing phase ... May be 100 words more to move the story further

  4. Odd how this prompt brought out so much similarity among the posts. I especially enjoyed the last lines ---
