The Upstairs Tenant

Summer brings familiar visitors. Some catch insects; none contribute to the rent. Climbing sun-baked walls, tenant in the top storey doesn't even pay rent.  Welfare unto all  Rab rakha

Summer Stillness

A still summer morning holds its own kind of tension. Sunlight settles across the verandah, the air refuses to move, and even the leaves seem suspended in anticipation, waiting for the first touch of rain. Sun-kissed verandah, prays for the caress of rain, the leaves hold their breath. Welfare unto all  Rab rakha

After the rain

Sometimes renewal arrives softly, one tender green shoot at a time. Rain reclaims forest, those dusty summer-scorched leaves. Tender greens return. Welfare unto all  Rab rakha

The Turning of Summer

On the Summer Solstice, light reaches its zenith—yet the turning has already begun. This haiku reflects on that fleeting pause between ascent and return, when even summer seems to hesitate before moving on. Sun stands very still. Summer falters a little, and then marches south. Before Sunrise

Some expressions of love are quiet enough to be overlooked in the moment. Looking back, I realize that countless early mornings began with a simple act of care— my father waking before dawn so I could catch the day ahead. Through the still dark dawns, for the train before sunrise, father wakes me up. Welfare unto all  Rab rakha

Where Thirst Ends

On the sacred occasion of Shaheedi Gurpurab, I offer this humble haiku in remembrance of Guru Arjan Dev Ji's unwavering faith, grace, and surrender. May the Divine Name continue to soothe hearts through every trial and season. Scorching summer hush. The soothing sweep of Thy name, quenches my parched soul. Welfare unto all  Rab Rakha

Dawn's honey

Prompt challenge: Use at least two yellow things in a poem without using the word "yellow." My response takes the path of dawn—where a golden globe rises in the east and honey spills through windowpanes, chasing away the hauntings of the night. Hauntings of the night, melt when golden globe rises, through the eastern skies, honey spills through windowpanes and flowers tilt to face it. Linking with TankaTuesday Welfare unto all  Rab Rakha

Where I Cease

Prompt: "The End" My response to an American cinquain challenge—finding not a conclusion, but a continuation. I cease. And we begin. Beautifully woven, our patterns fusing together. Postlude. Linking with Ronovan Writes Welfare unto all  Rab Rakha

The rustle of summer

Devil's ivy grows. Geckos rustle through thick greens, summer noon alive. Written for picture prompt challenge : Haiku Fridays with J-Dub #5 Welfare unto all  Rab rakha
