Janmashtami

 The cosmos dances,

to the flute-tune of cowherd,

the rhythm, hypnotic.

Love-enchanted, the pawns sway.

Lost cattle, He steers us all.

Hare Krishna. Hare Krishna.
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare.

Fantasy #writephoto

Dreams, imaginations, fantasies,

are all but seeds of reality.

They infuse us with spirit,

to make efforts to reach the sky and stars.

This haiku has been written for such spirit.

Crude, rough sandcastles,

on foundations of our dreams,

rests our universe.

Bliss

Sweet bliss,

beneath the surface of night,

and then,

hushed, hasty unveiling

of the rosy dawn.

Ah! The reminisces.

That black cat

Stretched on parapet,
in sultry summer morning,
inertia, envied.

Crumbs of our love

The crumbs of our love,
the morsels of our affection,
(raw and crisp mostly,
a little stir fry here
or mayhaps a sauté,
generously mixed with
grated mozzarella, and,
seasoned with basil
black pepper and oregano)
served on blank whites,
with lots of heart.
The platter ready,
a bit of us on the serving pallette,
and they call the sizzler, poetry.

Intrepid adventure

And that is what love is.
An intrepid adventure,
an audacious exploration,
into the deepest realms of heart.
A fearless, brazen stroke of paintbrush,
smearing the life forever,
with hues of bliss.
A masterpiece to behold.
Independent.
Original.
No, not the destination.
But ‘tis a journey.
A daring, gutsy journey of souls.

The eventide

The eventide.
That return to the nest,
the dull ache of pendencies,
the weariness of struggles,
the paused turmoils,
the sweat, blood and tears,
all melting,
rather dissolving in
the rustle of fallen leaves in lawn,
the ricocheting laughters indoors,
 the pestering, the tantalizing tease,
the boomerang zealous zest.
The elixir of this life,
that embalming smile on your face.

Travelling together

Terribly Tiny Tales is collaborating with Mahindra XUV500 and celebrating the love for the road, and for long trips filled with exploring and adventure.

They had sought about 140 characters. For this collaboration.

And here's my version:

One long drive,
an expedition beyond defaults,
winding circuits,
unwinding souls,
zillion experiences,
euphoric high,
souvenirs in heart.

Dawning

The sky pulls a curtain
on the star-studded night
and suddenly, the day peaks,
from the gossamer corners,
flashing a naïve, innocent smile,
so pristine, so pure, so refreshing,
and the sky lights up.
Slowly at first,
blushing a tad bit,
(that unmistakable
and unmissable
subtle red-violet streak
on the cheeks)
and then the daylight twirls,
and whirls, in full swing,
until the blue trail
of flowing chiffon gown
is splashed everywhere.
Ah! The daybreak.
Raw. Radiant. Resplendent.
The showstopper,
mesmerizing the audience.
The temptation, the tease, serenading.
The trance, the reverie, spellbinding.
The exquisite dawning, inspiring.
Just like you!

Defining her

Where there is a woman, there is magic.

Bitparts, minified.
Yet her layered soul, like a
appliqued rainbow wrap,
bearing her earthy perfume,
encompassing, engulfing.

Winter woods

Lonesome tree, withering in winters,
almost dead,
beneath that misty grey shroud,
surviving with summer in its heart
and sighing with hope in its roots.
Spring breathes life in it, anew.

This is just to say

The secrets floating
in your
deep hazel eyes
speaking silently

and urge
to unravel stories,
slowly
translating them

Forgive me
I fell headlong,
completely enamored,
totally consumed .

Rest in peace

A blessed soul of the community departed. He was a saintly spirit and Lord Almighty had graced him with the gift of music. Even though he could not see, yet he was so good at his craft that he was revered. I remember the sheer excitement which ran through my folks when he visited the town. They made that extra effort not to miss the time allotted to him in the Kirtan Darbar. With every breath he thanked Lord for the blessings He had bestowed upon him and it so seemed that every timehhe sounded more blessed in his craft. Unwavering in his faith till his last breath, he became a legend for the community. I, though not a very committed member of community, do cherish the times I heard him sing Gurbani and Shabad. And I don't know why, today, I feel that void in me, a bit of hollowness like I lost a distant relation, some faraway family member. My 100 words for his Faith...

‘Tis faith that inspired,
instilled the spirit,
to fly, even with broken wings.
And it is with faith alone,
that the fluttering whizzing,
was steadied.
Faith, that guided his hands
so that he strummed
those melodious hymns
that sang Thy praises.
Faith that granted vision to his heart,
to see Thy generous face
in the rising and falling octaves.
And it is with faith in Thee,
that he walks today,
through the Golden Gates of heaven,
leaving behind vacuity and silence.
Angels weep out of jealousy,
as they meet Thy Chosen Child.
Forever Yours,
he is now, forever with Thee.

Welcome the clown

The prompt word is clown. And I am delving into descriptive poetic form called Cinquain. The sheer joy that the whitefaced clown spreads, an image so vividly inscripted in our minds. Who knows what he feels behind his mask, it is the laughter that he can elicit from his audience that matters.
And as the wise say, it is healthy to be a clown for a little while in this circus of life.
For that brave spirit, I ink my words...

Jester.
Comic. Clumsy.
Juggling. Joking. Joshing.
Silly escapades. Sublime smiles.
Buffoon.

This is us !!!

The chaos outside, that cacophonous milieu,
with the typical incessant, inharmonious chatter.
And then I hear you speak,
rich, sonorous syllables,
in a rich, sonorous tone.
And suddenly all voices fade,
noises recede to the backgrounds,
becoming unnecessary and irrelevant.
The echo of your words,
ringing till long after
in the deepest corners of my heart,
like a calming rein on the wayfaring mind.
This is us.
You and me, winding down in each other’s company,
finding our own sense of calm in being together.
Our hearts, those perfect zen corners,
crafted with passion and
embellished with vivacious love chimes.

Remnants of you

The hazy afterglow of
tender caress, light touch,
and soft subtle whispers.

The lackluster farewell of
dissolving sand-castles, receding waves
and wrinkled creased bedspreads.

Remnants of you, everywhere.

Thy name, my refuge

As you walk with Guru, you walk in the light of existence, away from the darkness of ignorance, you leave behind all the problems of your life.
A haiku inspired from this thought... Heartiest greetings for Gurupurab...

Thy name’s holy thread,
mends my tattered and frayed soul,
in thee, my refuge.

Skindeep

Underneath the silken layers,
sans the make-up and the hair-do,
without the dash of code red lipstick
and perfectly lined eyes,
beyond the glowing radiant skin,
your soul painted in perfection.
So come to me, as you are,
minus all these masks.
You, with all your scars and flaws,
pure, authentic and real,
glowing from somewhere deep inside.
And I shall love you sweetheart,
with all my heart,
for how you are made up.
