You hurt her?
Yes, I did.
You betrayed her trust?
Yes, I did.
Did you know that she loved you?
Yes, I did.
Did you love her, ever?
Yes, I did.
……
Then, why?
Because, I loved her. I could not see her getting hurt. I
could not let her trust crumble. And because, this was best- for both of us.

Sweet and painful.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteSigh. No, it was not for the best. Not at all. Just look at the people left behind.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jessie. It is good to see that the story touched the right chord.
DeleteThat sounds like a story of someone I know. It is painful for them right now.
ReplyDeleteI am really sorry to hear this. This should never happen to anyone, ever. Hearts that love should stay together but I guess somethings happen and we have to live with them. Only if it could be called living. Thanks for reading this and sharing your thoughts.
DeleteThis is just awful (the situation, not the writing.)
ReplyDeleteThanks Janna and I am so relieved that the writing is bearable.
DeleteIt's sad that she is in a lose-lose situation. Poor girl.
ReplyDeleteYes - a totally lose lose situation for her. Thanks for reading and sharing your views.
DeleteVery touching response. You write it beautifully as well. It's a tough one to accept, but as you say, things happen and we learn to deal with them. Thanks for linking up.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your feedback. I appreciate it heartily.
DeleteI can identify with this complicated interpretation of trust and truth.
ReplyDeleteLovely.
