The Tyndall effect

Hope with a dash of physics...

Hairline crack, crevasse.
Lustrous by Tyndall effect,
particles of hope.

Fantasy #writephoto

Dreams, imaginations, fantasies,

are all but seeds of reality.

They infuse us with spirit,

to make efforts to reach the sky and stars.

This haiku has been written for such spirit.

Crude, rough sandcastles,

on foundations of our dreams,

rests our universe.

Bliss

Sweet bliss,

beneath the surface of night,

and then,

hushed, hasty unveiling

of the rosy dawn.

Ah! The reminisces.

Dream #writephoto

I looked at the prompt picture and was instantly reminded of the timeless number 'Dekha ek khwaab'.

After toying with the idea and words... I came up with my translation of the spellbinding musical inspiration.

And as far as I can see,
the mesmerizing spread of
blooming lavender flowerbeds,
'twixt us.
Such an overwhelming,
stunning,
and engulfing,
array of emotions.
Such rash of events.
And all because of one dream.
One beautiful, wondrous reverie.
Life, with you in it.

That black cat

Stretched on parapet,
in sultry summer morning,
inertia, envied.

Dawning

The sky pulls a curtain
on the star-studded night
and suddenly, the day peaks,
from the gossamer corners,
flashing a naïve, innocent smile,
so pristine, so pure, so refreshing,
and the sky lights up.
Slowly at first,
blushing a tad bit,
(that unmistakable
and unmissable
subtle red-violet streak
on the cheeks)
and then the daylight twirls,
and whirls, in full swing,
until the blue trail
of flowing chiffon gown
is splashed everywhere.
Ah! The daybreak.
Raw. Radiant. Resplendent.
The showstopper,
mesmerizing the audience.
The temptation, the tease, serenading.
The trance, the reverie, spellbinding.
The exquisite dawning, inspiring.
Just like you!

Drugged on life

Tiny little moments,
infinitesimally small,
simple, ordinary affairs,
served with extra dollop of love,
that take my breath away.
Life happens in
such slow old-school fragments.
And like a slow poison,
they blend,
infusing and diffusing in veins,
interwoven so intricately,
assimilated so seamlessly
that we cannot tell them apart.
The dose thoroughly monitored
and balanced.
Until the addiction consumes us.
Totally.
Merry hearts intoxicated
with the beauty
that this momentary Sojourn holds,
they drink the tonic slowly,
and the aftertaste,
that yummilicious vanilla essence, lingers.
Drugged on life and proudly so.
The intoxication contagious,
I hope the spirit spreads.

Midnight musings

The soft winds blow.
Nearly-full-moon shines bright.
The wind-chimes tinkle.
Subtly. Tenderly.
It is in such nights,
bedecked with silver,
and embellished with sequins,
that I sit in the lawn
and listen to the faint melody that plays.
And in my heart I talk to you.
Deep meaningful conversations.
In those moments,
you may be miles apart
but these rustlings bring you nearer.
Closer.
Like I can touch you.
Gently. On the cheek.
The uncertain music of the wind-bells rise.
The certainty of love grows.
Loud. Clear. Distinct.
Best part!
The notes stay with me.
Long after the winds rest.

Hare Krishna

The young cowherd, the god-child,
the prankster,
the brazen, besotted lover,
the flautist, the divine hero,
the universal supreme being,
the omnipresent, the omnipotent,
the omniscient, the elemental and inclusive,
how do I define thee?
The ink runs dry,
the paper insufficient,
the words, incommensurate.
Draft after draft,
I write and rewrite,
my greetings for you.
I fail in my attempts.
The verse, incomplete,
bereft and wanting.
I scroll
through the incessant mental-chatter
to find a fitting word
to begin the next draft.
Hare Krishna.
I pause.
I look no further.
The verse is complete.
Coherent.
Comprehensive.
Commensurate.

“Hare krishna”.

The flight of birds

Early dawn.
I hear the singing birds,
gliding, soaring, weaving
through the blue expanse.
And I wonder,
if they can
judge the kilometers they have flown?
Do they know the places like us?
Like Mandi. Hisar. Ludhiana!
Do they see the boundaries we have drawn on maps?
The directions, the longitudes, the latitudes,
do they know about them?
Or is it just a big brown earth for them?
Those primal beings,
are they on a flight of purpose,
or is it just an aimless trifle?
Mesmerizing. Breathtaking. Uplifting. Enlightening.
Small birds. Impressive flights.
Mighty contemplations.

Seeking semblance

Ma!
May I lie down
and
rest my tired soul
in your lap.
Here I am,
weary, wobbly,
washed out with fatigue.
Oh! lull me to sleep
so that
the chaos outside
ceases to be.
Will some order,
a bit of sanity,
in my life,
through your prayers.
And cook me a meal
(a great fan of yours)
of strength and love
for I need both
as it is dark outside
and though I can
fight the clouds,
the eclipse,
now that’s something
I can’t fight,
at least not alone.
So ma, help me heal
and
help me rise.
Again.

Transliterations

These poems are simply
a hesitating attempt,
to define the
sheer seduction
and pure bewilderment
of the abstract,
(the fresh crisp winds,
the gold floating on rivulets,
the crown glittering on Dhauladhars,
the soft covers of blue skies,
the flawless arch of rainbows,
the mesmerizing cadence of life,
this palette encompassing every hue);
translations
of intangible perceptions;
a modest effort at most,
to capture the essence,
of raw beauty
in these instantaneous transliterations;
random lyrical expressions,
couple of words juxtaposed,
in proper meteric form,
to allow a basic rhythmic structure.
Oh! These poems are
nothing but
the words flowing,
creating puddles of melodies,
in the faint hope that someday
birdsongs will breath life in them.

Persistence

Just like the persistence,
of the tiny miniscule seed,
seemingly dormant in the dirt,
but wild and robust deep inside,
never really still,
creating and growing all the time,
and then one fine day,
out of the smallest crack in the concrete,
shoots up one beautiful rose,
mayhaps a dandelion.
One perfect mesmerizing rose.
One breathtakingly beautiful dandelion.
A little piece of carbon,
refined by perseverance,
into a purest diamond.
Just like the persistence
of that tiny miniscule seed,
that little piece of carbon,
you too persist.
As long as you breathe dearest.
For there’s no other way to be.
