A welcome glint

In moments of stillness, when the chaos quiets and nature reveals its gentle truths, even a fleeting beam of sunlight becomes a messenger of grace. This haiku captures that sacred instant—the golden light piercing through a canopy, evoking hope, presence, and spiritual awakening. Inspired by the beauty of the natural world and the soul’s readiness to receive illumination, this poem is a quiet welcome to the divine radiance that surrounds and sustains us.

peeping from lush canopy.

Just as the cuckoo waits patiently for the soothing kiss of rain to bring relief and salvation, so too does my spirit yearn for a divine embrace that offers spiritual solace. In this haiku, nature’s tender moment becomes a metaphor for inner longing—an appeal for renewal, hope, and transcendent comfort. It invites us to reflect on our own search for spiritual relief, finding inspiration in nature’s ephemeral yet profound, truly transformative, embrace.

Baskets of summer!

Some memories stay with us like seashells tucked away in a basket—small, delicate, yet carrying the vastness of an entire ocean. Baskets of Summer is a reflection of a cherished childhood moment, collecting seashells with my sister on a sunlit beach. Each shell held a story, a wave, a whisper of the sea, and as we brought them home, we unknowingly carried the warmth of summer and the rhythm of the tides with us. This haiku captures that fleeting yet timeless joy—the beauty of simple moments that, like the ocean, remain within us long after they pass.

It is a tribute to the simple joys of life and the enduring spirit of hope and community.

January mists.
Yet the sun shines, the kites fly,
and the people pray.
Days of darkness, gone,
mists carry roasted fragrance.
Jaggery, and nuts.

'tis Lohri everyday

Lohri, a festival that marks the end of winter and the arrival of longer days, symbolizes warmth, gratitude, and abundance. Traditionally celebrated with bonfires, songs, and offerings of seasonal harvest, it teaches us to embrace the light that follows darkness. This haiku reflects the deeper spiritual essence of Lohri — the grace that leads us through life’s winter tides, turning each moment into a celebration of divine blessings. May this poem remind us that with faith and gratitude, every day can be a Lohri, filled with hope, joy, and the warmth of togetherness.

Stories by the bonfire

This haiku captures the essence of Lohri through nature’s lens — the cleansing rains, the nurturing earth, and the wisdom passed down through generations. It reminds us that festivals are more than rituals; they are stories shared around bonfires, bridging the past and present. Inspired by my grandmother’s words, this poem reflects the beauty of traditions that connect us to our roots, to each other, and to the land we cherish. Lohri is a celebration of life.

Winter’s Feathered Dance

The onset of winter brings a quiet magic, a stillness that envelops the world and invites us to notice the smaller, gentler moments around us. One such foggy day, I found myself captivated by the lively presence of sparrows in the garden. Some fluttered around the bird feeder, others splashed joyfully in the bird bath, while a few pecked at the grass or perched on the parapet. Their playful energy and simple existence were a balm to the soul, a reminder of the beauty in life's fleeting moments.

This haiku captures that serene yet vibrant scene, inviting the reader to pause and savor the harmony of nature as it dances with the changing season.
