Picnic on meadows

Pretzels, drinks, sweet tarts,
a spring picnic on meadows.
Litter left behind.

Somewhere out there

Somewhere out there...

A world so transparently beautiful...

Somewhere out there

is a beautiful world

where blue horses go galloping

and red elephants roam around

with pride.

Pleasing evergreens grow

by the side of mesmerizing rivulets

and fragrant breeze blows

in breathtakingly beautiful gardens.

Feathered friends flitting

from branch to branch

sing melodious songs.

Palatial houses ring with

peace and tranquility.

Decors are richly studded

with gemstones and fine carvings.

Happiness runs in corridors

wearing the anklets of joy.

And those who live there

are righteous,

virtuous and conscientious,

gratified by

the benevolence of Lord Almighty.

Somewhere out there

is such a real beautiful world.

Beyond our dreams.

Look

Beneath the layers,

oh, look past the obverse peels.

A beautiful heart!

Dawning

The sky pulls a curtain
on the star-studded night
and suddenly, the day peaks,
from the gossamer corners,
flashing a naΓ―ve, innocent smile,
so pristine, so pure, so refreshing,
and the sky lights up.
Slowly at first,
blushing a tad bit,
(that unmistakable
and unmissable
subtle red-violet streak
on the cheeks)
and then the daylight twirls,
and whirls, in full swing,
until the blue trail
of flowing chiffon gown
is splashed everywhere.
Ah! The daybreak.
Raw. Radiant. Resplendent.
The showstopper,
mesmerizing the audience.
The temptation, the tease, serenading.
The trance, the reverie, spellbinding.
The exquisite dawning, inspiring.
Just like you!

Becoming

I feel like inviting strength and beauty in my life... To be able to look at life and say that I am celebrating it to the fullest..
With these thoughts, I write a tanka with prompt words ashes and cocoon...

From ashes, we rise,
the spark of life, inside us.
Metamorphosis.
Beauty in pain and struggle,
from cocoons to butterflies.

Skindeep

Underneath the silken layers,
sans the make-up and the hair-do,
without the dash of code red lipstick
and perfectly lined eyes,
beyond the glowing radiant skin,
your soul painted in perfection.
So come to me, as you are,
minus all these masks.
You, with all your scars and flaws,
pure, authentic and real,
glowing from somewhere deep inside.
And I shall love you sweetheart,
with all my heart,
for how you are made up.

Essence of Diwali

Exuberance in the air,
that come what may attitude,
the warmth, cozy vibes of love,
heavenly perfume of home,
little lamps light up fresh hopes,
this, essence of Diwali.

Lost in the stars

Lying on our backs,
in summer blankets,
gazing at the dome of the sky,
the stars and constellations
sprayed like fine glittering Mukaish.
Our silences talk.
The sky lights up
with the ecstatic dance
of a shooting star.
Hasty forget-me-not wish.
Quick stay-by-me-always wish.
And then I fall asleep.
Cozily nestled on your arm.
Such perfect Kodak moments.

Skinny waist, fat thoughts

Skinny little waist, chiseled face,
taut and toned muscles,
the hourglass shape
that never-ending list
of presumably the perfect figure.
One never really fits in,
does not qualify
on the scales of beauty.
The exquisiteness
of heart and soul,
largely overlooked.
That skin-deep concept
equally cosmeticized.
The various versions of beauty,
the uniqueness of our blemishes,
the imperfections of being human
wilting and withering
in the race of looking beautiful.
Wonderfully made,
inevitably flawed
yet masterpieces,
in their own respects,
every single one,
craving acceptance.
Beautiful, you are.
All of you,
what and who you are.
Just believe and be.
