Until we meet again

As the grand festival of Mandi Shivratri concludes, the heart holds a mix of gratitude and longing. This poem reflects the emotions of bidding farewell to the deities and celebrations, yet finding strength in the unwavering faith that Shiva remains with us beyond the festivities. Just as devotees depart, carrying His blessings, this poem serves as a prayer—trusting in His divine strength, knowing that today and tomorrow remain safe in His eternal embrace.

So long my dear friend.
so long,
and until then,
strong in Thy strength,
safe in Thy hold.
in Thee do we trust,
our todays and tomorrows.

Winter’s Feathered Dance

The onset of winter brings a quiet magic, a stillness that envelops the world and invites us to notice the smaller, gentler moments around us. One such foggy day, I found myself captivated by the lively presence of sparrows in the garden. Some fluttered around the bird feeder, others splashed joyfully in the bird bath, while a few pecked at the grass or perched on the parapet. Their playful energy and simple existence were a balm to the soul, a reminder of the beauty in life's fleeting moments.

This haiku captures that serene yet vibrant scene, inviting the reader to pause and savor the harmony of nature as it dances with the changing season.

Waves of grace, winds of Naam (Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai)

Waves of grace, winds of Naam (Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai)

On the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Gurpurab, this poem emerges as a humble reflection on the timeless wisdom imparted by the first Guru of the Sikhs. Inspired by the profound verse "Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai," which likens the Divine Name to a steadfast ship guiding the soul across the stormy seas of life, this dodoistu adaptation seeks to capture the essence of that divine voyage.

In Guru Nanak's vision, the Name of God is not just a mantra—it is a lifeline, a vessel of grace that carries us through the turbulence of our worldly struggles. The poem follows this theme, celebrating the soul’s journey from uncertainty to enlightenment, reminding us that, despite the trials of life, the Guru's teachings offer unwavering refuge and guidance.

This poem seeks to honor the simplicity and power of Nanak's message: to live a life of humility, devotion, and unity, and to always hold fast to the Name, which serves as the ultimate protector on our spiritual journey.

As we remember Guru Nanak on this sacred day, may His light continue to shine in our hearts and guide us toward the eternal truth.

The pulse of freedom

There is a sight I hold dear.
A misty morning, a grey veil,
green hills in the background,
lush and abundant.
On the fore,
at about 100 feets,
soars the Tricolor.
A splash of serenity,
a wave of pride.
My country, my land, my India.
And this thought alone
is so sufficient.
