A welcome glint

In moments of stillness, when the chaos quiets and nature reveals its gentle truths, even a fleeting beam of sunlight becomes a messenger of grace. This haiku captures that sacred instant—the golden light piercing through a canopy, evoking hope, presence, and spiritual awakening. Inspired by the beauty of the natural world and the soul’s readiness to receive illumination, this poem is a quiet welcome to the divine radiance that surrounds and sustains us.

Blinding golden glint,
peeping from lush canopy.
I welcome the light.

The Song of Nature

Before the call of muezzin,
before the Om was revealed,
before the hymns were written,
before all the sacred rituals,
that man ever invented,
this nature sang for Thee.

The songs of rivers, whistling of winds,
chirping of birds, sussarations of spring,
rising and falling tides,
the prayers of grace and gratitude.

The nature sings still,
in Thy love,
all its melodies, attuned to Thee.

And some day,
when we will all be gone,
'tis canticles will still echo.
The rhythm will never fade.

This poem reflects on the timeless devotion of nature, revealing that long before human rituals and prayers, nature already sang in honor of the divine. With the songs of rivers, winds, birds, and tides serving as prayers of grace and gratitude, this poem celebrates a primordial, eternal hymn. Even after humanity fades, nature’s canticles will continue to echo, preserving an everlasting rhythm of divine love—a sacred testament to the immutable bond between creation and the Creator. It reassures that even after humanity is gone, nature’s sacred melodies will continue to echo, eternally attuned to divine love.

Lustrous divine

Rainy monsoon dawn,
the terra soaked in love,
flitting, chirping birds,
squeaking squirrels,
and fresh fragrant air.
Everything glistening,
pristine, intimate and open.
And there,
in the corner of the lawn,
two zestful friends,
a tiny little robin and
a naughty little chipmunk,
happily breaking their fast,
hungrily bent over
a small black tray,
filled with coarse grains,
dampened with downpour.
Synchronously,
turn by turn,
a peck, then a nibble,
then a peck again.
To the casual eye,
trifling wild things eating in harmony.
But if you look closely,
'tis the lustrous divine.

Happy Himachal Day

The post comes a day late.
I had written it yesterday.
But was a little unwell.
So the post was not shared.
My apologies.
April 15th... Himachal day..
Historically speaking, Himachal Day is observed every year on 15 April in Himachal Pradesh. The state of Himachal Pradesh came into existence on this day in 1948 when. Post Independence, 28 minor princely states were integrated into one province of Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Day 2023 is an official holiday in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

This day is celebrated to glorify the state's creation. This day is marked with a grand parade in Himachal Pradesh’s capital city, Shimla. Local events are arranged in nearby towns and villages to enshrine this day.

And for my beloved Himachal,

I just let my imagination run wild...

Oh! For I just want

to lose myself

in the scented folds of your skin,

to traverse through the mesh of

your auricles and ventricles,

slowly tracing your curves,

crests and troughs

and to play

with your lush, soft, silken hair.

Oh! For I just want

to live with you forever.

Thank you Himachal

for being my heaven.

Spring and storm

It was a beautiful spring morning.
Greyish white cotton floating against
greyish blue backdrop.
Clean, fresh, cool breeze.
Birds chirping.
And amidst this newness, this bloom,
this freshness, a beautiful early sun
was peeking through the lush green leaves
of a garden tree.
And though the scene above was pretty,
the tulips in the lawn had all wilted
due to excessive rains.
And this reminded me of our dear Farmers.
Baisakhi is round the corner.
Usually at this time of the year,
the fields glisten with golden wheat
ready for harvest.
But these mistimed rains have spoilt
their crops.
I shudder at the thought of their loss.
So today's tanka is driven by these thoughts.

And it rained all night,

the downpour inopportune.
Red tulips drooping.
Farmers worrying for wheat.
Gold glittering on moist morn.

Of Flowers and Life

Slumberous pink buds,

wet with morning dew,

and as the sun greets the dawn,

the tender roseates open,

swaying to the rhythm of day,

dancing daisies and dandelions.

Blooming beautiful roses,

passionately flirting in the forenoon.

The tulips yawning by the eventide,

the petals folding graciously at night,

revisiting the bygone Kodak moments.

Life, ephemeral and enchanting.

Vase that holds … cheer

This is an attempt to try imagery in poetry.

To bring to life, to paint before you, a picture of vase that rests on my study.

Gracing the corner of my desk,

the tender shoots

of money-plant

the shade of lawn-green,

bunched together

In a sleek, beautiful

imitation of

Waterford crystal Glandore

Seemingly fragile,

this intricate and elegant

trumpet vase,

and yet strong and sober

To hold

the supple golden greens

liberally bursting out

in all directions,

Spreading cheer.

Radiant with all those reflections

of LED tubelight.

Oh! And that reflection

in the dressing cupboard mirror,

adding to the aesthetic appeal

of the room.

Oft times,

the leaves tremble too,

with the pleasing caress

of cooling fans.

Missing hills

I miss hills.

Hills,

With crisp drifts;

With spick spirits;

With livid, living

firs, birds, wilds, griffins,

hid in thick mist.

In tip, is rift

stirring with kith-n-kin.

This shifting scrim,

this rill singing still.

Nigh! Right thing is,

I miss hir diggings,

hir kind.

I miss hills!!!

Picturesque

The sky is wearing a fluffy grey couture.

The greens are swaying.

There's this cool breeze,

invigorating and refreshing.

And the grass, the driveway,

they are moist

from the love that poured yesternight.

And though I can't see them,

I do hear the birds chirping.

And all this...

is so blissfully,

so romantically picturesque.

Surroundings

 Wind-chimes in the verandah

have started singing the sunup song.

Discarded ones

hung on the curry tree,

are jiving too, albeit gently.

And the lawn is spotted

with tiny little winged friends.

Beautiful. Distinct.

I don't even know their names.

Some have a magnificent tuft.

Some have striking colors,

some, a mesmerizing plumage.

Each one busy, singing it's own song.

There,

midst the frangipani and electric power pole,

a squirrel is creating ruckus,

Constantly gnawing and squeaking.

Its tail going up and down in tandem,

with its chatter.

And the greens are, literally, swaying

to this outstanding composition

of mother nature.

And attuned to this riveting opus,

is the mortal man's daily routine.

Someone is praying.

Someone is sweeping,

dusting and brooming.

Someone is busy managing the laundry.

And someone...

well, someone has already begun

the day's dash.

Unedited ramblings - Nature

 There are these subtle

simple laws of nature.

So easy at first sight.

And then you look deeper.

Just a little below the surface.

And it's astounding elements

reveal themselves.

What appears so simple

has a layer of surprising elements

throbbing at the core

and working in perfect synchronization.

Every component that is there

is a masterpiece in itself.

Not just unique.

But also a powerful display of

what nature is capable of.

We, mortals, mostly,

undermine this fact.

Looking only superficially.

And trying to win it over with our sciences.

But every time we try and play God,

nature hits us with something so unbelievable

that we are left dwarfed in our efforts.

These are times when we feel

absolute surrender to this magnificence,

Complete submission to the might of nature.

Life, almost entirely, is a rare artefact...
