Thwarted at bloom

Enwombed,
But
She felt the trepidations,
Of being conceived,
Of lacking
The Y chromosomes.
She wouldn’t be
Welcomed,
Not even if the APGARs
Supported her
For
The amniotic fluids had
Turned hostile.
They had
Nipped off the bud.
The flower never bloomed.

  3. Oh that is so sad. I had one of those, a baby that was never born. Still brings tears to my eyes. Very poignant and brilliantly penned with so much emotion.

  7. Such a heart-rending thing to miscarry a daughter late in the pregnancy. It's been 30 years and my mom still mourns the loss of my would be sister. I'll have to show her this piece.

  8. I like the fact that you used all the medical terms in here. Why, you even know about the APGAR score. And about the theme of this: Female foeticide, we need to keep remembering these issues and create awareness
