So true. I'm not into social media (no Twitter/FB). I've made many blog friends over the years, but it's still not the same as my 'real life' friendships :)

This is specially true for all of us who were born before this cyber age came into being-I have friends who have stood the test of time and we are still friends after 42 odd years-nowadays friendships are only based on whtsapp or Fb and have no value-other than "face value"-so sad!Beautifully written -like always.Would like to remain in touch with you-do let me know how,please,thks and all the best:-)
I so agree with your sentiments.i am also glad that you can boast of cherished sets of friends. Only few can do so. But then somewhere it has helped us all connect over such platforms in larger and broader manner. I am enjoying being there on fb, twitter, etc ;-) and getting to know people like you.

Oh man, yes! It is nice to have them as a filler for the in between times, but nothing can make up for direct contact with friends and family.

DeleteFriendship has never really been my goal. A platform for my writing and thoughts was all it was supposed to be. I like the term e-quaintance for my blogging 'friends' - I have created all these networks for my blog - and yet people still try to add me as a friend on my personal facebook. - this i don't understand...

DeleteNice capture on the dichotomy of social media, allowing us to be "in touch" with so many more people than ever before without necessarily ever having the ability to physically "touch" a one of them. And yet an outlet such as this often offers permission to express thoughts and feelings in a way we might not otherwise always feel comfortable doing in what should be a more personal realm. Ah, the psychology of blogology & such...
