Under Your Cape, Teacher

Under Your Cape, Teacher

A Teachers’ Day tribute to those who shape our thoughts, nurture our voices, and gently guide us toward discovering who we truly are.

as my pen learns cursive shape

scribbles take a form, a shape

written freely 'neath your cape

words find a rhythmic escape

Thy flute whispers

Thy flute whispers

A Janmashtami-inspired reflection on Krishna, where monsoon whispers, seeking souls, divine love, and the gentle music of his flute converge.

monsoon winds whisper wise words

sin scorched souls seek salvation

locked in Thy love, Indigo

fluid flute notes float

Sibling frenzy

Sibling frenzy

A Rakshabandhan gathering bursts with sibling chaos, fills the roads with departures, then leaves behind the unexpected stillness of an emptied home.

exhausted roadways

Braided blessings

Braided blessings

A Rakshabandhan-inspired Kouta, weaving the sacred rakhi thread, sisterly love, and monsoon imagery into a quiet celebration of sibling bonds.

glisten on my wrist

Rakhi on the way

Rakhi on the way

Before Rakhi arrives, monsoon-soaked parcels carry tiny threads of love, anticipation, and sibling bonds across miles.

A Tug Called India

A Tug Called India

A quiet tribute to the Tricolor, capturing the deep, instinctive bond between India and the heart of its people.

Wherever, whenever

I see

the fluttering Tricolor,

I feel proud,

I feel the tug,

the pull,

that consumes me —

I belong to India

and

India lives in me.

After the gray

After the gray

A first attempt at Séadna.
After the grayness fades, morning returns in golden light, reminding us that every storm eventually gives way to beauty.

Breeze is still, blushing blue skyline

sun is sending golden light

grays are gone, skies are now benign

dazzling dawn, bedight and bright

Somewhere out there

Some nights hold deep conversations, lingering sweetness, fading desires, and distant howls that remind us the world is still awake.

stupid desires yawn

stray dogs howl somewhere out there

The Weekend List

Sometimes the monsoon weekend we imagine as restful turns into chores, muddy windows, endless laundry, and the quiet comedy of everyday life.

Tyre-Deep

Each monsoon exposes the failures we normalize—flooded streets, choking drains, and a city forced to endure the same cycle.

Come rains,
and the city stands still
in treacherous tyre-deep pools
of murky water
rising under the hammering downpour.
Gutters belch and vomit
our failures
and we wade through them,
year after year after year...

Forever with me

On Guru Purnima, I cherish the sacred light that guides my path, dispels darkness, and remains forever within.

Beyond all darkness
the light of Thy lamp
forever with me -
and this I cherish, always.

Monsoon Moment

After every downpour, life quietly resumes—hungry creatures forage, grey skies linger, and unexpected beauty finds its place among the passing clouds.

Between the donwpours

Between two downpours, life quietly resumes—clothes flutter, umbrellas dry, and sunshine lends the valley a fleeting moment of warmth and hope.

The valley springs with life.

Colorful clothes drying on the washline,

umbrellas aired for reuse,

in the brief spell of humid sunshine,

before the stillness of the next downpour.

The road home

Home is not a place remembered, but a feeling renewed—the hills, the rain, and a quiet welcome waiting before you arrive.

glistening green hills,

rain greets my arrival.

Paper boats

Sometimes the greatest joys begin before the first raindrop falls—folded paper boats, hopeful skies, and childhood waiting for nature to keep its promise.

Eventide.

Muddied-grey sky,

holding humid promise.

Paper boats are ready.

Sacred Innocence

Sometimes the most heartfelt prayers need no polished words. Innocence, wonder, and unfiltered joy often become the truest expressions of faith and devotion.

The evening hymns begin.
A tiny toddler
totters to the altar,
takes the mic,
and his prattle
weaves itself into the canticles.
Perhaps the purest prayer.

Peace in the storm

When life's storm roar the loudest, find your calm in God's refuge. His peace anchors the soul, no matter how fierce the winds outside.

Rain hammers the roof.

Beyond the window, wild storms,

peace in Thy refuge.

Monday blues

Monday starts with clouds.

Rain, traffic, files and long hours -

the same old weekdays.

Swamped calendars, papers pile,

already - thoughts of weekend.
