The weighing scale of faith

"God does nothing except in response to believing prayer."

~John Wesley

The weighing scale of faith

In the far far west, the lands of Kabul,

lived a retailer, who measured in full.

A man of faith, strong his belief in Thee,

in Thy holy feet, he placed all his plea.

And thus he lived with his wife and kids,

refraining strictly from what Thee forbids.

Envious of him, charged for weighing less,

weights were dubious, he landed in mess.

Arrested, he would be thrown in oven hot.

His kinsfolk cried, lamented on their lot.

They prayed in Kabul, in prison cell of fort.

Thee heard their cries at Amritsar court.

Check his weights, ordered the mortal king.

Omniscient Master, Thee knows everything.

Thee plays with offering a devotee brings,

a smile on Thy lips, Thee pulls the strings.

Five copper-pice, Thee juggles with saintly hands,

the weighing scale moves as Thee pulls the strands.

Thee shuffles the coins, now in right, now left.

Likewise moves the scale for judging any theft.

At last Thee places the coins by Thy side.

And greets the court with a smile wide.

The devotee is saved, his weight were right,

his faith rewarded, he is blessed by Light.

Through the storms, in the trials we face,

Thee steers us ashore by Thy grace.

Stand by faith and stay ever strong.

Commit to Thee, and Thee shall belong.

Welfare unto all
