Crossing hills and plains,
In an eight hours drive.
Fighting for sitting
By the window side,
Singing songs to
While away time,
Finding paradise
After a dusty cart ride.
Granny, we have come!
Linking up with Trifextra : Week Forty-Seven : This weekend we want you to give us a pithy summary of your feelings about the holidays.
This reminds me of driving home to my parents with our kids. Except our dust is usually goldfish crumbs. :) Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mel. I am glad you can relate.
DeleteThis is a sweet story and reminds me of some joyful car rides during the holidays.
ReplyDeleteJoyful bus rides for me. Followed by a few minutes in a cart or an auto-rickshaw.
DeleteEight hours is quite the haul! You brave soul (: But I'm sure it's worth it every time.
ReplyDeleteEight hours is what restricts the visit to holidays. And it is totally worth it. Family, cousins, bliss.
DeleteWonderful Ruby! What a nice Christmas memory! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda.
DeleteMy sentiments, exactly...or my kids' rather. We just had another long long trip to visit their grandparents for the holy days. Your poem described the whole thing for us. :-)

ReplyDeleteYup, getting there is the best part. Only it is 33 words. But I know the rush you are in :) Thank you Deana
Deleteha! I was thinking of Ketchup with us. oops!
DeleteI know. You were so focused there and plus it goes for both the prompts so it is easy to mix up.
DeleteSounds like a lot of fun, especially the cart ride although I think I would enjoy that more as a child than adult. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you Tessa. It is good to hear such encouraging words from you.
DeleteI like it. It's a new spin on Over the River and Through the Woods. Great job, as always, Ruby.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up. And Merry Christmas!
