A fair of faith

Every year, the grand Shivratri celebrations in Mandi bring together devotion, festivity, and the joy of spring. This poem captures the excitement of revisiting the fair, where prayers, music, and dance fill the air in honor of Lord Shiva. The vibrant festivities reflect both spiritual devotion and the warmth of shared celebrations. Just as spring renews the earth, so does faith renew our hearts, reminding us of the divine love and blessings that grace this sacred occasion.

Oh come dear, like every year,
we shall again visit the fair,
and pray and dance and sing,
we shall celebrate the spring,
for in Thy love, all fetes and feast,
And Thee loves me too, a handsome treat.

A little fuss

This poem that I share here was written in the week gone by. The prompt words were sweaty, sunny and ice. And I attempted rhyming style.

The poem is developed around a simple summer scene. Nothing intricate or complex. And this was the underlying theme. As the poem progresses, the summer scene gives way to romance. And that is the main highlight. That love is nothing intricate or complex. At times it is just two people connecting and bonding, spending quality time. It's not about getting dressed to nines. At least not everytime. Sometimes its just a hurried get together in a crowded food court. Love is simple. And there is but a little fuss involved.

The poem is titled : A LITTLE FUSS

It was a sweltering sunday
of a very summery sunny may.
And the tiny bachelorette pad,
craved for some broom, brush and swab.
From the hideout, laundry stared back,
sweaty, stinky me soaked the stack.
Chores done, then to pamper yours truly,
a little scrub, rub, tone and moisturize duly.
Date with you, it just slipped my mind.
A leisurely siesta... Oh! I unwind.
Your call woke me up and look how
You're already at the venue and I start now.
I jog, trot, hop all the way to food court.
A little breathless, but finally I report.
The next few hours, 'twas just you and me,
bonding over a chilled cola and iced tea.
And by the time, we said our goodbyes,
the noon sun mellowed, sidewards in skies.
I guess we left behind little parts of us,
tiny bits of our hearts, to create a little fuss.
