We'll get you a brother,
They promised;
Running errands
Outside our nest,
Pushing my wedding-cart,
Running our family-name,
Sustaining their withering souls;
Never lamenting
The sisters I could have had,
Not even once.
Its okay, I offered.
Its fun catching fireflies alone.
It is relaxing doing things alone. No rivalry.
ReplyDeleteThat is one way of looking at it.
DeleteThank you for stopping by.
Ah how poignant. I can hear the bittersweet tone in that last line, as the child prepares to catch them alone but not really enjoying it fully. Sigh, single kids. Mine is one.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Shailaja
DeleteLove that last line. Wraps it up so bittersweetly.
ReplyDeleteThank you Todd for your kind words.
DeleteThe last line has so many emotions, loved it.
ReplyDeleteThank you dear. I am really glad to hear such encouraging words from you.
